Ten people were shot in Philadelphia on Sunday (April 17), with hometown rapper Quilly identified as one of the victims. The surge of violence, which stretched throughout the day, and at one point saw five of the shootings occur within a four-hour period, claiming 3 lives. This comes only a day after a 4-year old girl was gunned down by her mother's boyfriend in the Kensington section.
Quilly was among three men in the line of fire when a gunman discharged a hail of bullets on the corner of 9th and Ontario in North Philly. While NBC has reported all three men to be in stable condition, sources from the Express Urself Urban Crisis Response Center claim that Quilly's condition is critical. At press time no arrests were made, and no motive has been identified for the shooting.
The post from Express Urself Urban Crisis Response Center read, "WE CALLING ALL ENTERTAINERS TO A IMMEDIATE FORUM OUR CITY IS IN RAGED SO BAD THAT ANYBODY OR ANYTHING TRYING TO MAKE IT OUT BECOMES A TARGET !" Coordinator of the E.U.U.C.R.C, Terry Starks wrote in the caption of a photo of Quilly sitting next to French Montana. "PHILADELPHIA PRAY FOR@darealquilly AND PRAY FOR UNITY IN THIS CITY PLEASE PHILADELPHIA COME TOGETHER A FOUR YEAR OLD TODAY NOW THIS? [sic]"
