The controversy surrounding Lakers rookie, D’Angelo Russell, and the now-infamous video he recorded of his teammate Nick Young, quickly thrust the young basketball star into the national spotlight. Russell admitted during a press conference that he "never meant to hurt anybody" with the video, and he added that he felt like he put Young's engagement to Iggy Azalea in jeopardy.
Probes into his personal life have revealed that Russell has a girlfriend of his own. Her name is Niki Withers, she’s a junior at the University of Southern California, majoring in pre-law while playing volleyball for the prestigious Los Angeles-area university. Withers posted an Instagram photo hugging Russell with the caption, “MINE”, amidst the media firestorm caused by the rookie’s recording.
