The man behind the six killings in Kalamazoo, Michigan Saturday night was denied bail at his first court appearance on 16 charges. Jason Dalton, 45, appeared at Kalamazoo County District Court via a video link and chose to remain silent throughout the arraignment. Dalton was recognized as a Uber driver during the rampage and reportedly picked up customers along the way.
Despite the unfortunate tragedy, Uber will continue their usual process when hiring drivers. Ed Davis from the Uber Safety Advisory Board told reporters "A background check is just that — a background check. It does not foresee the future." The car service company also said the reviews Dalton received from their customers had been "very favorable."
