TransAsia Airways Flight GE235 tragically crashed into a river in Taipei, the capitol of Taiwan, yesterday, February 4th.
A mayday call was sent out by a man on the plane, though it has not been confirmed if he was the pilot. The caller informed air traffic control, ""GE235. Mayday, mayday. Engine flameout."
Out of the 52 passengers on board, 32 have been confirmed dead, while 11 others are missing and 15 survived, including a toddler. As the plane was going down, its left wing clipped a bridge before the aircraft plunged into the water below. The entire horrifying crash was captured on camera by the dashcam of a vehicle driving along the bridge at the time of the tragedy. It looks almost unbelievable to see this happen in real life, for this kind of occurrence is something that you'd most likely expect to see in a movie.
