NYPD officers conducting a raid on a home in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn got quite the surprise when among the items discovered was a shoulder-fired rocket launcher.
Acting off a tip that drugs could be found in the home on Knickerbocker Ave., cops conducted a raid early last Friday. Police were startled to find the launcher, although sources told the NY Daily News that the heavy weapon was inert, as the rocket had already been fired.
"You can only use those things once," a police source told the Daily News. "Right now, it's just a paperweight."
Juan Garcia, 41, who was in the home at the time of the raid, was hit with drug-related charges and criminal possession of brass knuckles, but will face no charges for the rocket launcher because it posed no threat.
