The Black Liberation Army's Joanne Chesimard a.k.a. Assata Shakur nee Chesimard has been officially listed by the FBI as the first female to make the list of living terrorists.  The reward for her capture has been set at an incredible $2 million.

For those who may not be aware of who she is, Ms. Shakur was convicted in 1977 for the 1973 murder of NJ State Trooper Werner Foerster during a routine traffic stop where she allegedly shot him twice in the head.  However, her supporters argue that she was simply an activist who became a victim of the justice system and media.  Assata managed to escape from the New Jersey prison where she was being held in 1979 and has been living in Cuba since 1984 with political asylum.

Special Agent Aaron Ford claims that she continued to express anti-U.S. views in speeches and is an active participant in terrorist relations.  He feels as though she may also be in contact with other terrorist organizations on an international scale.

"She is a domestic terrorist who murdered a law enforcement officer execution style.  And while we can't right the wrongs of the past, we can and will continue to pursue justice no matter how long it takes."

The FBI have claimed that the Black Liberation Army is actually responsible for the murder of over a dozen police officers in the 1970s-80s.  Despite her alleged terrorist ties, Assata has had continued support from the hip-hop community, with rappers such as Common recording a song in her honor, "A Song for Assata."
