Harlem spitter A$AP Rocky joins Fabolous, Nas, Nicki Minaj, and Jay-Z as the only NYC emcees to reach #1 on the Billboard 200 since 2008. Rocky's "Long. Live. ASAP" sold 138, 503 copies in its first week of release, securing the top spot.

Rocky's monumental debut album achieved the feat despite being leaked online a full month before its official release. Metacritic.com gave the LP a score of 73, signifying "generally favorable", based on 31 professional reviews, 22 of which gave the project a "positive review."

Despite New York City being the birthplace of hip hop, the last few years have seen the biggest names coming from the South. However, with acts like A$AP Rocky, Azealia Banks, Flatbush Zombies, and Action Bronson, that may be a dying trend.
