20-year-old Frank Emmitt Nance was arrested on Friday night, January 11th, for shooting 35-year-old police officer Reggie Robinson in the face after being stopped for a routine investigation for narcotics.  Apparently, Mr. Nance took off running once he was stopped by Officer Robinson, and after Robinson followed him in a foot pursuit, Nace turned and shot him in the head.

After being taken to a nearby hospital, officer Robinson has been listed in stable condition.  Nance, on the other hand, was arrested and charged with nine counts of criminal activity which include cocaine possession, aggravated assault against a police officer and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.  The Atlanta Police Department (APD) will be launching an investigation into the events that took place after Nance was arrested, for in his mugshot his face appears extremely battered and beaten.

APD spokesman Gregory Lyon said that an investigation is pending to see if officers took matters into their own hands and retaliated against Nance for shooting officer Robinson, or if his injuries were somehow inflicted by outside sources; possibly other inmates inside of the bookings.
