Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz has had a breakout year in 2012 and all of his hard work and diligence earned him a Grammy nomination at next year's award show. His solo debut album "Based On A T.R.U. Story" received a nod for Best Rap Album and 2 Chainz couldn't be happier.

He called into DJ Drama's Shade45 satellite radio show most recently to discuss a few things. The two spoke about 2 Chainz' aforementioned debut LP and the Grammy nomination as well as his follow-up sophomore album.

"'Based On A T.R.U. Story' album nominated for a Grammy. I can't say I told you so or none of that. All I can say is I'm honored. I didn't know...When the nominations came out I definitely texted the big homie [Kanye]. I told him I appreciate him giving me the opportunity to get on 'Mercy.' Cause that song is huge for me. And of course the homey Drake, me and him collaborated on the 'No Lie' and that's already platinum."

2 Chainz briefly spoke on his next album, saying that it's progressing nicely.

"We gone continue pushing the envelope, be looking out. My next project, I'm more than probably like three songs in that I'm definitely confident in. I'm just continuing to work."
