Real hip hop heads know that ghostwriting goes on all the time. It's part of the business, and even Biggie Smalls occasionally had people ghostwrite for him. But when people saw Dream Hampton, known hip hop writer, tweeting that had ghostwriters on his "Untitled" album, the hip hop world had gone awry.
Despite the accusations, both Jay Electronica and Stic Man of Dead Prez have come out in defense of Nas and his legacy. Stic man tweeted, "As far as the rumors about myself and Jay electronica ghost writing for Nas, let me say thus. Nas is one of the if not the most prolific original artist to EVER do it. My contributions to his album was a collaboration and an honor under his direction of what he wanted to convey and say. Haters can't discredit that man's genius. Nas is the Don."
Even No I.D. had input on the situation, saying he watched Nas pen his raps on "Life Is Good".
The thought of Nas needing a ghostwriter broke the hearts of hip hop fans everywhere, and its still not quite clear what actually happened. See what Jay Electronica had to say in his tweet above.
If Nas did have people ghostwrite for him, does it tarnish his career?
