When the dreaded NBA lockout was over, athletes who were playing overseas returned to the NBA. J.R. Smith joined the New York Knicks, but he's still dealing with contractual issues with the Chinese basketball team he played for briefly.

Now he has filed a $1 million lawsuit against the organization in order to try and attain the $1,078,500 that was cut from his salary.

The team contends that Smith missed up to 80 practices and also skipped out on scheduled team meetings, among other team-oriented activities.

The squad also states that Smith breached his contract during his time spent with them. They have until Monday to respond to the lawsuit.

A FIBA arbitrator will preside over the case.
