It was a great gesture by Mac Miller to link up with aspiring rap artist Bobby Stewart who is a fellow Pittsburgh native and is also in a battle with cancer. The two previously got together in the studio to discuss song-making. Now Miller is acting as a mentor to the 18-year-old.
There is little known about the pair's upcoming potential endeavors, but Stewart has created a deep track that discusses his struggle with his T-cell lymphoma condition.
Miller admits that what he's doing for Stewart is a great thing, but the focus should remain on Bobby and not himself.
"It's cool what I did, but the story here is him; the story is that there's a kid that's battling one of the gruesomest, toughest diseases in the world, yet he's courageous enough to talk about it in his music. This is someone who really talks about his sh*t in his music, like all the stages of cancer, to the point where it's uncomfortable for some to listen to because it's that much real, it's too real, it's that painful."
Miller also pointed out how sensitive this particular matter is and why it would seem awkward for him to be featured on the track.
"I just wanted to do what I could do to mentor him and help him put a song together and give him what I know. I didn't want to step in on the song because to be real, he did a whole song about cancer, and then what am I gonna come in with on the third verse?"
No word on when Bobby's music is to release.
