Shots rang out outside of the Chesapeake Energy Arena where the Oklahoma City Thunder had just defeated the Los Angeles Lakers. A large crowd of around six to seven thousand people had gathered outside to watch Game 5 of the Lakers/Thunder series, as tickets were sold out.

After the game, mayhem broke out in the downtown section of the city, where at least eight people were struck by bullets. It was also reported that a pregnant woman was kicked in the abdomen during the commotion.

No fatalities have been reported as of yet, but the injured were hit in areas including the back, arm and hand.

In a statement, Oklahoma City police Captain Dexter Nelson said, "Preliminary reports indicate that eight people were shot and one person suffered blunt trauma, and that person was a pregnant woman. Everything is very, very preliminary. We still don't know the actual number of victims. We believe that one person is critical, and the other injuries are not believed to be life-threatening."

An Oklahoma City Thunder fan by the name of Chris Turan stated that he heard gun shots after the game ended.

"I though the element of the spectators changed for the worse tonight. There seemed to be a lot of people out there looking for trouble."
