Queen Latifah headlined the Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Festival on Saturday, where she told the crowd that she was proud to be around "her people." Interrogation into Latifah's sexual preference has long followed the star, but she has never went public with her relationship status.
Coming onto the stage Latifah told the crowd that she'd "been waiting to do this for a long time," and entertained them with hits like "U.N.I.T.Y." and "Ladies First." She also shared her thoughts on the current state of hip-hop, where she stated that the culture is "missing the female voice."
Since conquering the rap world in the late 80's Latifah went on to become a monumental talent in the film industry, earning an Oscar nomination, being spokesperson for Covergirl cosmetics, and becoming a successful TV producer. Her latest project, a remake of Steel Magnolias, is set for premiere on Lifetime sometime this year.
