Rihanna has been under fire lately from the media and fellow artists alike. The media has been bashing her for her partying ways, drinking, smoking, and constant clubbing. Meanwhile, ex-boyfriend and fellow artist Chris Brown spit some very controversial bars over his freestyle to Kanye West's "Theraflu" a.k.a. "Way Too Cold" track. In Chris' freestyle he goes in rather cruelly about one of his ex's sleeping around, and his only main ex that everyone knows about is Rihanna, so it seems kind of obvious that his harsh words were aimed at her.
This is what Chris said in his freestyle that is believed to be aimed at Rihanna:
"Don't f*ck with my old b*tch it's like a bad fur/ Every industry n*gga done had her/ Shook the tree like a pumpkin just to smash her/ B*tch is breaking codes, but I'm the password."
Rihanna quickly un-followed Chris after this freestyle was released to the public, and Chris un-followed her shortly after she un-followed him.
Russell Simmons has felt a need to speak up for Rihanna after this track was released. He feels as though Chris' harsh words were unnecessary, and that Chris is a hypocrite for writing them. Simmons feels as though everyone should just back off of Rihanna because she is simply an independent woman living her life freely, and there's no reason to fire shots at her for anything she's done.
Here's what Simmons wrote in Rihanna's defense in an online blog:
"There have been a lot of artists recently talking about 'good girl gone bad,' Rihanna. As far as I'm concerned, I don't see why everyone has their panties up in a bunch. It's just that she is out there allegedly f*ckin' the rockstars of her dreams and you out there f*ckin' groupies. You can't be mad that she was seen walking out of Ashton Kutcher's house late one night, cause you know if you were seen walking out of Adriana Lima's house late one night, you would be in the studio the next day rapping about it. I mean, you all got like 50 girls in your videos drooling over you and you dissing Rihanna? I can't blame a girl for being independent, having fun and living her life the way she wants to. I am certainly not condoning indiscriminate sex, but don't get mad cause the girl...
Remember, I was a manager once and I have seen these types of young men on the road. I was with Run-DMC, the Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Whoodini and saw all of the girls after the show line up outside the dressing rooms. I mean, Whoodini even wrote a song about, 'I Am A H*e' and went on to rap, 'I rock three different girls after every show.' So, I know how this sh*t works. You all got 10 times as many girls as Rihanna has men, and you know that. I love you guys, and this certainly ain't a diss, but I gotta keep it real."
