Newsweek magazine really went over board with this one.  Using "shock value" to grab attention is a common tactic among media sources these days, however they went way too far with this.

The cover they chose to put up addressing President Obama's outspoken support for the gay community, rather tastelessly depicts an image of a "rainbow halo" over his head, with the words "The First Gay President" beneath his face.  The article, written by Mr. Andrew Sullivan is just as bold and ridiculous as the magazine cover.  This guy actually had the nerve to write this stuff.

Here's what Mr. Sullivan wrote:

"When you step back a little and assess the record of Obama on gay rights, you see, in fact, that this was not an aberration. It was an inevitable culmination of three years of work.  And President Obama has much in common with the gay community. He had to discover his black identity and then reconcile it with his white family, just as gays discover their homosexual identity and then have to reconcile it with their heterosexual family."

Seriously?  What a shame...
