The highly anticipated Coachella event lived up to the hype last week with several great performances which drew large crowds. So large that the first weekend of the festival set a new record for attendance.
According to the Indio Police Department, the event saw an increase of 5-10 thousand people, raising the total attendance number to 80-85 thousand people, all of which attended each day of the three day event.
But, with the good comes the bad.
It's great that those paticular numbers saw a significant jump but what also increased was the number of arrests that were made. 134 attendees were placde under arrest, which is an increase of 48 people compared to last year's event.
Indio Police Department spokesman Benjamin Guitron was content with the overall outcome of things, though, stating that "Compared to other events, sometimes there are 200 arrests at football games".
