Lincoln Brown, a 48-year-old Chicago Public Schools teacher, has filed a federal lawsuit against his district after being suspended for using the "n-word" in a class on racism.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the incident happened last October after Brown found two students sending notes back and forth with rap lyrics. He found the moment "teachable" and proceeded to use the word in the context of the book Huckleberry Finn, showing how language can hurt. For better or worse, the principal walked in right at that moment and found the lesson shocking and cruel.
What do you guys think? Is his suit justified? Is the guy actually racist just for using the word as an example? Should he have been suspended without pay? Comment down below!
