The Maryland Department of the Environment says the fish died of natural causes. They say it looks like "cold water stress" is what caused the deaths of so many fish. Authorities assumed disease may be the cause by Maryland's tested water levels are within acceptable levels. Large winter kill offs have occured in this area before twice in the past but never in this volume.
