During the path of devastation that took place in Texas during Hurricane Harvey, we saw many celebrities step forward to raise money for the community of Houston, as well as, lend a hand in rescuing and helping residents. From Houston natives Trae the Truth to Beyonce and other stars such as JJ Watt to Kevin Hart. Despite, there were reports from a councilman in Houston who urged people not to donate their money to the American Red Cross because it would not reach the people, and would be a "waste of money."

This isn't the first time the Red Cross has been under fire for missing funds; many people took to social media to mention how relief money that was raised for Haiti after its terrible Earthquake was not used in the community; according to the report, 25% of those donations went to administration costs. Recently, a news report suggests that some Houston residents who turned to the Red Cross for help after Hurricane Harvey have failed to receive the funds promised to them. While Paul Ryan is on record mentioning that the federal relief fund could run out of money, the Red Cross made "immediate help" available through an online system that crashed due to the heavy volume of traffic or that did not open up at all.

With the Red Cross's immediate help program families were promised up to $400 per week to help with their living expenses as they wait for the insurance checks to come in. However, as with the one family in NBC's news segment, no money has been given and phone calls go unanswered. Houston's Mayor speaks on the situation saying, "If you promise people something, you have to make it happen. Otherwise don't promise at all."
