It has been a hot minute since Ice Cube's BIG3 three-on-three league made headlines, with the TMZ level of hype it once obtained pretty much leveling out over the past couple of months. And with its inaugural game set to kick off on June 25, those who hold a stake in the league must be putting their heads together to come up with a plan to get word about its star power going again. Thus, there aren't many names that come to mind that might prove to hold more attention from the basketball media at this present moment than LaVar Ball, especially with the focus fans traditionally have for the playoff season waning on account of what many are calling the worst postseason in recent memory.

On Tuesday, May 23, Ice Cube invited the Big Baller Brand [BBB] honcho to a challenge that inevitably serves as mutually beneficial to both their brands. In a video the hip hop legend posted to his Instagram page, Cube tosses a shot up that splashes the net from 30 feet deep. If big LaVar can match the shot, said Cube, he'll cop himself a pair of the ZO2s. “You make it, LaVar, I’ll buy a pair of them Big Baller Brands,” said Cube.

Make that several pairs. The rapper-turned-actor/director would later boost the bounty, when in the caption of the video, he wrote, "Callin out @Lavarbigballer for @thebig3 #4pointchallenge! Make the 30ft shot and I'll cop 10 pairs of #bigballerbrand."

One of the features that is going to separate BIG3 play from NBA play is the 30 footer. It will be worth 4-points, which definitely lends an advantage to those with a strong jump shot. While Ball's expertise was in football, the success of his three sons has to speak for something in terms of his ability to land one from the arc every so often. Ultimately though, these days the Ball father is a business man, and 10 purchases of the $495 sneaker would be roughly $5,000, and a little something extra to help him ball out towards his 1,000th sale.
