Paul George has become the latest celebrity figure to speak up in defense of Ray Rice, and also the latest star to be bashed by fans as a result of his comments.  Earlier today, September 11th, Paul posted a tweet that really rubbed fans the wrong way regarding his views on the severe punishment that Ray Rice has received for knocking out his wife Janay while inside of an Altantic City casino elevator.  Amid the abundance of angry reactions from NFL players and general celebrities, boxing champ Floyd Mayweather also raised eyebrows with comments he made on the Ray Rice situation.  However, he has since backtracked on his previous statements today by claiming that he never saw the video before he commented on it, even though he said previously that he had seen the footage.  It looks like Paul George is learning the hard way about when to say certain things and when to remain silent.

The tweet that set off a firestorm of reactions from fans on Twitter stated:

"I don't condone hittin women or think it's cool BUT if SHE ain't trippin.. Lets keep it movin lol let that man play!"

Obviously, many fans weren't happy with the fact that Paul George, like the NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, are willing to give Ray a pass for cold clocking his wife without being given a more severe punishment than a simple 2-game suspension.  After being bombarded with angry responses from fans, George deleted the tweet, but then went on a brief Twitter rant that resulted in him apologizing to victims of domestic violence.

Amid the many angry fan responses, there were some supportive ones as well.  Check out Paul George's tweets and the many fan reactions above.
