The war of words continues between Donald Trump and LaVar Ball. After LaVar's epic appearance on CNN with Chris Cuomo where he stated "If I was going to thank somebody I would probably thank President Xi. I'd thank him. He's the President in China," which was an obvious jab at President Trump who recently said that the UCLA players involved with shoplifting should thank him for getting them released. LaVar claimed that he was in talks with unnamed sources to get his son and teammates back home despite the President's 'intervention.'

Not receiving any thanks for his contributions to the return effort, Donald Trump took to Twitter to let LaVar knows how he feels. Trump slammed the basketball father, tweeting:

It wasn’t the White House, it wasn’t the State Department, it wasn’t father LaVar’s so-called people on the ground in China that got his son out of a long term prison sentence - IT WAS ME. Too bad! LaVar is just a poor man’s version of Don King, but without the hair. Just think..

With a character like LaVar Ball who simply understands how to garner media attention and the attention seeking president always on Twitter, this could turn into something ongoing.
