LaVar Ball gave host Chris Cuomo a run for his money during an appearance on CNN Tonight on Monday, November 20. Cuomo, who was filling in for Don Lemon, has gone head to head with some of the toughest personalities in politics. But he met his match with LaVar. The two discussed LaVar's son's recent situation with China.

"Did he help the boys get out? I don't know. I don't know. If I was going to thank somebody I would probably thank President Xi. I'd thank him. He's the President in China," LaVar told Cuomo, after much back and forth on the matter. "My involvement is always going to be with my son, but I don't have to deal with everybody around me. I just gotta make sure he's taken care of. But there's a lot of people that can go around and say 'LaVar, this is what I did for your son. I did this for your son. He would never be where he was if I didn't do this for him.' I'm not trying to hear all that."

Throughout the interview, LaVar maintained that he had already been in talks involving unnamed parties who were going to help LiAngelo and his teammates out. He accused Trump of embellishing the situation, pointing out how Trump tweeted that he should have left the boys "in jail," for example, when the fact of the matter is they were never in jail.

When asked what steps he was aware of the President having taken, the basketball father said he did not know. When Cuomo specified that Trump spoke with President Jinping on their behalf, he simply responded, "That was nice." Later on he would pose that Trump doing the trio a solid was "good for his mind."
