The death of Lil Peep from an alleged overdose sent waves through the hip-hop community, with many sending their condolences. While some have sent their condolences to family and friends of the rapper, others have commented on the drug usage that is present in newer artists music, including Lil Peep. Artist Russ, who has made it clear he doesn’t agree with glorifying drug usage, took to Twitter to express his thoughts.

Russ said “Abusing Xanax and other pills, drugs, etc in private cuz your depressed/other mental issues is one thing (still not good).. constantly recording yourself doing drugs and putting up pics and videos of doing it is when you start CHOOSING to publicly glorify it and make it an image.”

The rapper went on to push that a discussion should be had surrounding glorifying drug usage and ended his thoughts by saying “And I’m not saying that when they post drug abuse publicly that it’s not a cry for help. What I’m saying is that it’s not ALWAYS a cry for help. Sometimes posting drug use publicly IS for an image. This is the ENTERTAINMENT industry. Y’all need wake up and question more sh*t.”

Rapper Smokepurrp did not take too kindly to Russ’ words, responding directly to Russ’ tweet by saying “Shut the f*ck up u a b**ch.” Smokepurrp explained his tweet, saying “Don’t ever use someone’s death to make ur self look cool or as an example, lame as f**k.”
