Meek Mill is currently housed in solitary confinement for 23 hours a day, 7 days a week and he wants out.

Meek's attorneys filed legal docs trying to get him transferred from solitary to the general population. They argued that the Philly rapper is a victim of his celebrity. The lawyers say prison officials are worried about Meek interacting with other inmates, so they put him in solitary because it's the only way they can protect him.

There have been several studies that prove solitary destroys the psyche and Meek's legal team wants the judge to understand and believe that theory. They also say it's severely inhibiting Meek's creativity. He's writing and exercising a lot, but it's taking its toll on him.

According to TMZ, Meek believes he'll do fine in G.P. because he's well respected on the streets and has given back a lot to the community since he's become a celebrity.

In the meantime, Meek will hit the prison commissary for the first time Friday for snacks and toiletries, and he'll get his first visitor sometime next week.

In addition to trying to improve his jail conditions, Meek's lawyers are also trying to get him released. In an appeal filed Wednesday, his lawyers made a number of arguments, including that Meek's probation officer and the prosecutor didn’t recommend a prison sentence as punishment. They say the sentence was too harsh for his offense. They also asked Judge Genece Brinkley to step down from the case.

Brinkley sentenced Meek to 2-4 years in prison for violating probation. He's been on probation since a 2008 drug and gun case.
