The rate of unarmed African-Americans being killed in the United States by police is alarming, especially when most of them did not do anything to warrant being wrongfully killed. Just last year, a man who was helping an autistic man in the street was shot by police after putting his hands up and showing he had no weapons.

One of the most troubling incidents with police shooting African-American in the past few years came in the form of the police shooting 12-year-old Tamir Rice, who was playing with a toy gun. Now, news has surfaced that a 19-year-old man allegedly pulled a BB gun on a Utah police officer, pulled the trigger, and lived to tell the tale. According to Police Lt. Craig Martinez, two of his officers took down a white man who pointed a gun at one of the officers and would have killed the man via a gunshot if he was one more foot away. In the end, the officers ended up disarming the man without using weapons.

The body camera footage from the takedown was released and showed the man firing his BB gun three times. In the charges filed against the man, it was noted that the shooter repeatedly told one of the officers that he would kill them. Lt. Martinez told the press he thinks the man was trying to commit suicide via the police.
