Timothy Loehmann, the police officer who shot and killed 12-year-old Tamir Rice in 2014, has been fired, city officials announced.

In March, the 911 operator who dispatched the officers to the call was suspended for failing to tell the officers that Rice was carrying a toy pellet gun. And in January, it was announced that the officers involved in the incident would face administrative charges. In 2015, a grand jury decided not to bring criminal charges against Loehmann and Frank Garmback, the officer who was driving the patrol car.

Garmback will be suspended for 10 days starting on Wednesday.
