It was previously reported that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was reportedly set to quit his position this past Summer and that he allegedly called the president a “moron.” Tillerson’s alleged urge to quit stemmed from how Trump handled himself during a visit to the Boy Scouts. From there, Tillerson reportedly made comments about Trump during a national security council meeting on July 20, where he allegedly called him a “moron.” Since then, R.C. Hammond—Tillerson’s spokesman said that Tillerson is denying that he was set to quit.

Of course, Donald Trump caught wind of the reports and made sure he singled out NBC News for their report on the matter. Via Twitter, Trump said “NBC news is #FakeNews and more dishonest than even CNN. They are a disgrace to good reporting. No wonder their news ratings are way down!” He went on to tweet “The @NBCNews story has just been totally refuted by Sec. Tillerson and @VP Pence. It is #FakeNews. They should issue an apology to AMERICA!” Despite his last bit on the tweet, NBC News said: “we stand by our reporting.” Trump may not be all the way right on his last tweet, as Tillerson refuted claims of quitting, but did not refute calling Trump a “moron.”
