Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has been one of the main players in the middle of the North Korea vs. Trump back-and-forth, but not to his liking. Most times, when Tillerson speaks, it is to clear up outlandish statements Trump made in reference to the rogue nation. Now, reports have surfaced saying Tillerson was actually considering quitting his position as Secretary of State this past summer. Also, Tillerson reportedly once referred to Trump as a “moron” while in a high-level Pentagon meeting.

NBC News noted that Tillerson wanted to leave his position only after a few months, with Trump’s visit to the Boy Scouts earlier this year being one reason why. Tillerson led the Boy Scouts as a youth and was so upset with Trump’s politically-charged speech made during the Boy Scout Jamboree, that he made comments about Trump to members of the national security council during a July 20 meeting. NBC News reported that the tension was so bad between Tillerson and Trump, that Vice President Mike Pence had to talk to Tillerson to keep him from jumping ship. One unnamed official told the press “They did beg him to stay. They just wanted stability.” Since then, Tillerson’s spokesman R.C. Hammond has denied that Tillerson called Trump a moron or threatened to quit.
