White supremacist mass murderer Dylann Roof recently petitioned to have two of his lawyers removed from his case due to their race. According to Roof, the public defenders that were appointed to his case were Jewish and Indian respectively, both of whom Roof considered "biological enemies." Roof went on to say of his legal representation, "[it's] quite literally impossible that they and I could have the same interests relating to my case."

On Tuesday, the judge over the case said that the court would refuse Roof's request. Dylann Roof murdered nine people in 2015 at South Carolina's historic Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. Roof was later convicted on 33 counts of hate crimes and sentenced to death.
