A comment that Magic Johnson made on social media concerning Draymond Green's attitude following a 2016 altercation that landed him in court, has resulted in the L.A. Lakers president of operations being called upon to appear before a judge as well.

Johnson has reportedly agreed to honor a subpoena that names him as a witness in the civil lawsuit trial against Green. Green was slammed with the suit after he got off easy by reaching a plea deal that reduced an assault charge to a noise violation conviction, a civil infraction, and a $500 fine and $60 jail restitution. He will now fight the pursuit of damages from plaintiffs Jermaine Edmondson and Bianca Williams, who have accused the Golden State Warriors star of hitting Edmondson in the face during a July 2016 dust-up in an East Lansing, Michigan restaurant.

After the incident Johnson reportedly tweeted support for Green, adding that he recalled a conversation they had during which Green appeared sincerely apologetic about his role in the incident. The court apparently wants to know more about their talk and has arranged for him to testify two weeks prior to the start of the season, in Los Angeles, on October 4.
