Joel Osteen came under heavy criticism as Hurricane Harvey ravaged Houston, Texas and the pastor didn't open the doors to his mega church which holds a reported 16,800 people and is the former home of the Houston Rockets.
Initially, Osteen and representatives of Lakewood Church claimed it was flooded and therefore unable to take in those displaced by the hurricane. It was soon revealed that information is untrue as pictures and video of the unharmed church made the rounds on social media.
Osteen sent out a tweet sending prayers for those affected. He later put up a link for people to donate money to the relief effort through his church's website, which upset people even further.
Osteen is reportedly worth over $40 million and has a $10.5 million home in Houston.
