Fans will recall a petition making rounds to have Migos replace Lady Gaga for the Super Bowl LI half-time performance earlier this year. Thousands signed on, with many feeling like a Super Bowl involving Atlanta in these times, ought to have representation from some of the trap stars dominating the charts today. On Tuesday, August 23, TMZ caught up with Quavo outside of LAX, and asked whether he'd consider submitting to the wishes of the nearly 8,000 people who've signed a more recent petition to have him ad-lib on a new 'Star-Spangled Banner' track.

"It's just a lot going on behind the National Anthem, so, I would love to do it, but I want to do like a 2017 National Anthem for both people, for all races. And you know what I'm saying? Put it together, you know what I mean?" Quavo responded. "Something that's representing now. Something that's representing like a modern day National Anthem, you know what I mean?"

Following a week of unrest over the events in Charlottesville, many have begun contemplating ways to use their platform towards restoring a sense of unity in the nation. Over the past several decades the result has often produced music collaborations that on occasion have resonated amongst the people. Whether altering such a coveted song as the National Anthem would unify or further throw fuel on the fire in these polemic times, however, remains to be seen.
