Conor McGregor doesn't see how it is that people are taking him for racist. Those who've paid attention to the prize fighting star's rise to the top of MMA have seen the influence of hip hop in his attitude, fashion sense, and choice of music out in public and at UFC events. After Thursday's [July 13] NYC press conference, McGregor formally addressed the controversy surrounding racially insensitive remarks he's made over the past week, calling such accusations "ridiculous."

"I mean, how could you say that, when, look at me for f**k sake. I'm coming out rapping bleeding Biggie [sic] I'm shouting, giving him respect. You know what I mean?" McGregor told reporters. "I'm a big fan of the s**t. I am a big fan of the culture. You know what I mean? Like I said, he asked me what my playlist is. All I listen to is rap."

McGregor mentioned pulling out a physical copy of Jay-Z's 4:44 album and handing it to Mayweather on stage. It was apparent that the UFC champ was mocking The Money Team boss when he pulled the stunt, telling him to "learn how to build and maintain a real empire," as the album changed hands. In his post-presser interview though, McGregor said that his intention with introducing the rap great into the conversation was to show his mutual affinity for hip hop music.

McGregor has been criticized for calling Black actors in Rocky III "monkeys," as well as for his usage of the word "boy" when referring to Mayweather.
