Almost two weeks ago, Nevada became the latest state to approve the legal sale of recreational marijuana. While the move seemed to be promising, dispensaries in the state are now on edge about possibly running out of weed. Because of that, Governor Brian Sandoval has declared a state of emergency over the shortage in marijuana available.

In the past, the governor openly opposed the legalization of recreational marijuana. However, he backed the Department of Taxation’s state of emergency request which would allow Nevada to bring on temporary regulations to ensure marijuana distributors have all the supplies they need. According to the communications director for Sandoval, “the next step for the Department of Taxation is to enact permanent regulations on the same topic.” This comes after news arrived of over 40,000 transactions taking place within the first week of legalization.
