Most time after major awards shows, popular hip hop news and culture sites tend to post up key moments and performances from those events with no issue. However, the latest BET Awards footage caused many Twitter accounts for popular music websites to be suspended. According to Spin, the Twitter accounts for HipHop-N-More, 2DopeBoyz, Pigeons & Planes, and The Fader was suspended around 4:30 PM Eastern time.

Many speculated that the suspension of those accounts had something to do with a Young Thug release and that it came via Atlantic Records due to the founder of HipHop-N-More's reasoning. However, a Viacom rep confirmed that their company sent DMCA takedown notices to Twitter referencing the BET Awards footage. 28 tweets, in particular, featuring BET Awards show content was referenced in the takedown.
