Following the mayhem of last year's memorial day weekend in Chicago that left 6 dead and 63 shot, authorities made a concerted effort to control the wave of violence this year, although there is still much work to be done. A 15-year old boy was killed during the Memorial Day festivities, along with 26 others who sustained gunshot wounds. Chicago Police deployed an additional 1300 officers over the weekend in an attempt to quell the violence.

This comes after a string of raids late last week that sent several members of Chicago's two-six gang behind bars.
