While speaking before attendees of an energy conference in Houston, former Congressional House Speaker John Boehner gave a fairly complete assessment of the President's term in office so far. The long-time Republican, who voted Trump in the general election, applauded his efforts on overturning the Affordable Care Act [Obamacare] and gave kudos on how he's handled foreign policy up until this point, but he didn't have much else good to say.

When talking immigration, tax reform, and other big policy points Trump promised to tackle during his ambitious campaign, Boehner chalked his shortcomings up to a lack of experience, saying the real estate mogul was "still learning how to be President." He was clear about the impression he's been left with through the new administration's first five months in office, however, in stating that pretty much everything but healthcare and foreign policy has been "a complete disaster."

Boehner refrained from supporting Trump through his woes so far as the investigation into his campaign's ties with Russia goes, with the insistence that investigators get to the bottom of the matter. But by the same token, he batted down the idea that a call for impeachment is helpful, calling the measure a political act more than legal act, and asserting that going such lengths to politicize the President's shortcomings "is the best way to rile up Trump supporters."
