Drake had a lot of love to share at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, May 21, and he wasn't about to let the night go by without letting it be known. While accepting his award for Top Billboard 200 Album, the Young Money rapper shouted out his team, but not before imparting some kind words around the room, starting with the show's host. "Vanessa Hudgens, you look...incredible tonight," he said to rousing applause.

After shooting his shot at Hudgens, Drake moved on to one-time rival Ludacris, who he acknowledged having a deep respect for. He then went on to express gratitude for Young Money mates Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne, before raising the energy in the room by tossing his father a compliment on his fashion that proved to be as rambunctious a moment as any that took place on the stage.

Drake explained that he was inspired to affirm those in the room because of an experience that opened his eyes to the importance of conveying such appreciation in the moment. "I had a close friend of mine that didn't support my album, but then, like, supported other people's stuff, and I asked him why. "The response was 'I don't want to look thirsty, and you get enough love as it is,'" he recalled. "We're all here on Earth for a limited amount of time. We gotta show love while we're here."
