Joe Budden and DJ Akademiks' new show on Complex called "Everyday Struggle" finds the two giving some commentary on hip-hop and everyday topics. Their latest show found the two discussing whether Lil Yachty is good for hip hop as a whole. Budden said, "I don't think Yachty is hip-hop. I don't think Yachty's label is hip-hop, and when you're not hip-hop and you're trying to troll or exploit, you get things like this album cover, which is to draw attention to music that's not drawing attention." Following the release of the clip, Lil Yachty and Budden took to Twitter and exchanged words.

Now, Yachty's dad, photographer Shannon McCollum, has taken to Instagram to respond to Joe Budden, and his words were less than kind. McCollum said, "Only reason I'm posting this [is] so I can publicly say F*** #joebudden. N***a u have no relevance in Hip Hop!! And on my life when his album drop his numbers will be better than any project you have released. He's done more in 1 yr than you've done your whole wack ass career. FOH n****s love trying they best to pull somebody down instead of lifting somebody up! Get that free press bruh off the back of my young'n but u still a cornball #oldwackrapperissues."
