Taxstone, whose real name is Daryl Campbell, was arrested this morning, Monday, January 16th, 2017, in connection with a May 2016 shooting at Irving Plaza that left one dead and rapper Troy Ave wounded. Troy Ave was shot again this past Christmas.

According to officials, authorities were preparing to charge Taxstone on federal weapons possession, and he had been under investigation for months in his connection the shooting.

Sources reported that he was arrested at his aunt's house in East New York, and was brought to the 13th Precinct in Gramercy Park. Campbell's defense attorney said, "He will be arraigned tomorrow. We look forward to reading the complaint from the government."

Campbell was previously convicted of weapons and robbery charges: he served 18 months before returning to serve another 8 months on a parole violation.

Troy Ave, whose real name is Roland Collins, has been free on $500,000 following the Irving Plaza shooting. His bodyguard, Ronald McPhatter, was killed, and Collins has been accused of attempted murder. Troy Ave was shot in the leg and maintains that he ripped the gun away from the man who killed McPhatter and fired the gun in self-defense.

Collins' lawyer Scott Leemon did not identify Campbell as the individual who shot Collins and his bodyguard McPhatter.
