Dana White and Floyd Mayweather have been going back and forth over the past few days, and Floyd Mayweather put an end to any possibility of him going through Dana White to negotiate a fight with Conor McGregor on Saturday night, January 14, when he told a Fight Hype reporter that he has no interested in talking to the UFC's former minority owner. The way Floyd sees it, he himself is a boss, and bosses don't negotiate boss deals with employees.

"I don't wanna talk to Dana White. Remember, Dana White [sic] he was a player, he was a boss, but he was a small boss. You know, the big bosses were the Fertittas. But then Fertittas choose to sell the UFC, so Dana is just an employee," Floyd said, when question arose as to whether he'd be willing to sit down with White if he were to raise his $25 million offer. The TMT honcho had just gotten through breaking down the variables involved in him setting his asking price at $100 million, saying that he came away with around $400 million from his Canelo Alvarez and Manny Pacquiao fights combined. It has been a decade since Floyd last fought for $25 million, when in 2007 he fought Oscar De La Hoya in what at the time was the most lucrative boxing match in history. Back then the UFC was coming into its own, but was by no means the dynamo in the prize fight business that it is today. Floyd went on to remind White of much more humble times. "I can remember Dana White used to hang around with me and Jeff Mayweather, and carry my bags. Dana White, you know I remember you used to carry my bags," said Mayweather.

Floyd Mayweather has long had a contentious relationship with the power players around him. The Pacquiao fight was delayed for as long as it was because of his vendetta against Bob Arum, dating back to when he was one of Arum's fighters under Top Rank Promotions. Now that he owns his own promotion company, and has for some time put himself in a position to dictate the terms of his own fights, he often reminds his opponents that they haven't acquired the leverage he has, when in negotiations. Before finally cutting a deal with Arum to get the Pacquiao fight done, he attempted to talk Manny into leaving the company so that they can represent themselves across the table from one another, as did Miguel Cotto when he left Top Rank prior to signing on for his battle with Floyd in 2012. Before signing off from the interview, the 49-0 legend was sure to remind McGregor of the position he is in under White.

"All I've gotta say is this: why every time Conor McGregor go out there and fight, Dana White is still an employee, but Dana White makes more money than Conor McGregor, when McGregor go out there and fight?" asked Mayweather.
