Meek Mill has once again taken to Instagram to speak out on the slaying of Terence Crutcher, and this time, he has been motivated to empower his social media presence as a voice for the voiceless, he announced on Thursday, September 22.

"IM TURNING MY COMMENTS OFF 4 life this shit ain't for ya comment it's my platform to speak for my people," Meek wrote, before directing his comment towards selective followers, who might have responses that enhance discussion around material he posts, for future reference. "AND IF YOU GOT A POWERFUL MESSAGE AND YOU A CREDIBLE PERSON SPEAKING GENUINELY FOR OUR PEOPLE YOU CAN USE MY PLATFORM!"

Meek delivered his remarks by a screenshot of a June New York Post headline that read, "Brother of murdered hoops star gets 50 years for revenge killing." He shared the gist of the article as an instance in which a Black man was handed a murder charge along with a weighty sentence for "allegedly doing something to someone that allegedly killed HIS SISTER!" The Philly rapper was juxtaposing the charge which that man [Taylon Murphy], was tied for, in contrast with the manslaughter charge officer Betty Shelby received, in connection with her role in the Crutcher shooting, in Tulsa last Friday.

Meek has become increasingly vocal on the social issue since July when he declared on Instagram that he would be done rapping about extreme violence after his DC4 album. He originally responded to the Crutcher shooting following the release of footage of the incident, pointing out how a terrorist suspect in New Jersey was taken into custody alive, while Crutcher was shot down while walking with his hands up.
