The man who gunned down nine churchgoers last night (June 18) in Charleston, South Carolina has since been identified as 21-year-old Dylann Storm Roof and was apprehended by authorities as of early this morning.

According to ABC News, the White male went into Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal at approximately 8:00 p.m. and attended bible study for about an hour before he began opening fire. Six women and three men have been confirmed dead, one while on their way to a nearby hospital - three other people who were in attendance have been said to have survived.

Other sources have been reporting that Roof had a pending felony drug case against him before the shooting took place. While police began the manhunt for him in Richland County, law enforcement officials claim to have found him in Shelby, North Carolina.
