Former Spokane NAACP President Rachel Dolezal sued Howard University over claims that she was discriminated against for being white at the historically black university. The news comes the same day Dolezal announced her resignation as president following news that she was falsely portraying herself as black

Her lawsuit claimed that that she was denied a teaching assistant job, further employment and a scholarship because of her race. Dolezal also specifically named Professor Alfred Smith, whom she claimed prevented her from taking a teaching assistant job one semester, and she also said that he took down her artwork from a student exhibition because of her race.

Rachel's case was eventually dropped by the Washington D.C. court of appeals who ruled that the actions made against Dolezal were not racially charged. She was ordered to pay $2,700 for costs incurred by the university, and an additional $1,000 for attempting to delay a medical exam.
