The family of Spokane, Washington, NAACP President Rachel Dolezal say that the prominent civil rights activist and Eastern Washington University adjunct professor has falsely portrayed herself as black for years. Dolezal's mother Ruthanne told Coeur d'Alene Press that her daughter is of Czech, Swedish and German ancestry.

Her mother told the publication, "It is very disturbing that she has become so dishonest," and added that "Rachel is very good at using her artistic skills to transform herself."

In February of this year a photo of Rachel with a black man she claimed was her stepfather appeared on the NAACP Facebook page with the caption,Spokane NAACP's Facebook page with the message:  "President Dolezal's father announced today that he will be coming to town for January 19th ribbon-cutting ceremony for the NAACP office ... and is expected to speak at the 7 p.m. MLK tribute membership meeting."

Rachel's mother disputed claims that the man, Albert Wilkerson, is Dolezal's stepfather, and Ruthanne added that she has never met Wilkerson. It was also pointed out that Dolezal's birth certificate names Ruthanne as her mother and former Lincoln County, Montana Comissioner Lawrence Albert Dolezal as her father.

The expose also focused on Rachel Dolezal's black sons, one of whom her parents say is her adopted brother.
