Over the weekend, Boosie was recognized for his influence in music with not one, but two honorary doctorate degrees during a ceremony at Kingdom Heritage University in Saint Petersburg, Florida.
Footage from the event circulated online, showing the rapper—born Torrence Hatch—being awarded an honorary Ph.D. in Music Composition, as well as a second honorary doctorate celebrating his broader impact on the music industry.
During the ceremony, Bishop Dr. Michael Bates Sr. delivered a heartfelt tribute. "We are here to honor you. Your pain has not been wasted. Your platform has a purpose. Your legacy is just beginning. We know your name as Lil Boosie. Heaven will now know you as Dr. Hatch," he declared.
Boosie took to the stage to express his gratitude. "I just want to say thank you. I really appreciate it. I ain't never been given anything like this, so I really appreciate it," he told the crowd.
The honorary degrees mark a new milestone in Boosie’s career, recognizing not only his contributions to music but also his enduring presence and influence in the culture.
