It was revealed that a lawyer of Suge Knight—Matthew Fletcher pleaded no contest to conspiracy after it was noted he tried to bribe witnesses to get Knight cleared of murder charges. In May 2022, the former attorney for Knight appeared in front of a judge after the judge issued a bench warrant.

Fletcher reportedly appeared four hours later to face sentencing on conspiracy and perjury charges, and L.A. County Superior Court Judge George Lomeli noted he “seriously considered” remanding the former lawyer until the next court date. According to reports, Judge Lomeli said, “If you’re one minute late, one second late, I’m going to remand you next time.” Fletcher reportedly told the judge, “I thought my sentencing was tomorrow … I literally did not remember it was today. I want nothing more than to get this over with,” before apologizing.

The former lawyer of Knight was indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit bribery, conspiracy to suborn perjury, conspiracy to obstruct justice and accessory after the fact related to the former Death Row Records leader's case

In the plea agreement, Fletcher is expected to serve five years of probation with no jail time. Along with that, he has to resign from the State Bar of California.
