Sha’Carri Richardson has been in headlines after it was revealed that the world’s fastest woman tested positive for marijuana. The positive test ultimately resulted in her being disqualified from competing in the 100-meter race at the Tokyo Olympics. Since then, Richardson has spoken her piece on the matter, noting she used marijuana following receiving the news of her biological mother passing right after her historic race via a reporter. Many have chimed in with their thoughts on Richardson’s suspension, with Nike showing support for her. Now, President Joe Biden has given his take.

While in a store in Lake Michigan, Biden was approached and asked what his thoughts were on Richardson’s suspension from the Olympics. Biden was asked if the situation was fair and responded by saying, “The rules are the rules and everybody knows of the rules going in. Whether they should remain the rules is a different issues, but the rules are the rules.” He concluded by saying, “But I was really proud of the way she responded.”

Biden's response shouldn't come as a surprise, as he previously had several staffers suspended or told them to resign from the White House for marijuana use
